The Metropolitan Transport Corporation (MTC) would be operating additional buses connecting Chengalpattu and Tambaram due to the redevelopment work in Egmore railway station. The Southern Railway will be reducing the number of suburban train services on the Beach-Tambaram section for a period of 45 days starting from February 20, in order to facilitate civil work in the station.

According to a press release, the MTC would operate 44 buses, including 16 buses from the temporary bus stand at Royapuram, to Guduvanchery via Tambaram and Kilambakkam (route no. R18), and 28 buses from Royapuram to Kilambakkam (route 18A) from February 20 to April 5.

Also, 15 special buses from Pallavaram to Chengalpattu via Tambaram would be operated.

The MTC plans to operate additional buses in response to passenger demand, for which officers will be deputed at major bus stations.
