A motorist died, and a scooterist was seriously injured following an accident near Taretoota on National Highway 66 in Mangaluru on Saturday night, 11 April. The Mangaluru East Traffic Police said motorcyclist D. Gopalakrishna, 27, overtook a tempo, which was moving towards Amblamogaru, and hit a scooter. He lost control of his vehicle and then hit the rear wheel of a tipper lorry, also moving in the same direction. Gopalakrishna fell on the road, and the man on the scooter, Mohanchandra, 63, also fell by the roadside.
