Prime Minister Narendra Modi has written to party leaders seeking support ahead of an extended Budget session sitting to take up amendments to the Women’s Reservation Act, 2023. The government plans to delink the law’s implementation from the ongoing delimitation process and instead base it on the 2011 Census. Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge has questioned the timing of the move, called for an all-party meeting, and flagged the lack of clarity on delimitation.
