Makkal Needhi Maiam, founded by actor Kamal Haasan, is learnt to have presented a wishlist of over 10 Assembly seats during its meeting with the DMK’s seat sharing committee at Anna Arivalayam on Wednesday (March 4, 2026).

Sources in the MNM said their demands were received cordially and hoped they would be allotted a respectable number of seats. “We have presented a list of constituencies, mostly in metro cities. We hope they respond favourably,” a party functionary said.

Despite joining the DMK alliance in 2024, the party did not contest the Lok Sabha election, but its leader Kamal Haasan was elected to the Rajya Sabha. The party is hopeful it can contest in the upcoming Assembly election on its ‘torch light’ symbol.
