Senthil Kumar addressing delegates at an awareness programme on Intellectual Property Rights at SPMVV campus in Tirupati on Tuesday. | Photo Credit: BY ARRANGEMENT An awareness programme on Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), conducted by Madanapalle Institute of Technology and Science (MITS, Madanapalle) in association with Sri Padmavati Mahila Viswa Vidyalayam (SPMVV), provided researchers new insights on its growing significance in the realms of advanced research. Joint Director of MSME-DFO, Visakhapatnam (Ministry of MSME), R. Senthil Kumar explained the various funding opportunities and procedural aspects available to MSMEs under innovation, entrepreneurship, technology upgradation, and marketing schemes. He also encourage the participants to effectively utilise the government support mechanism to promote innovative ventures, and sustainable industrial growth. Similarly, S. Sivakumar, Assistant Registrar of Trade Marks, Geographical Indications (GI) and Copyright, Trade Marks Registry, laid special emphasis on GI tag. He said GI protection is an essential intervention in preserving traditional knowledge and regional products, while enhancing their market value at national and international levels. SPMVV’s Registrar R. Usha, Dean (nternational Relations) P. Vijayalakshmi and TOCIC Coordinator P. Josthna explained the benefits of DSIR-PRISM scheme (Promotion of innovation in individuals, startups and MSMEs) in motivating budding entrepreneurs to leverage the State-sponsored schemes. SVU’s RUSA Chief Executive Officer Rayala Vamsi Krishna, MITS Associate Dean P. Sivaiah, and R&D and Consultancy advisor R. Thulasiram Naidu also took part.
