Andhra Pradesh Health Minister Satya Kumar Yadav has instructed the food safety wing and health officials to conduct an in-depth investigation into the incident of four people dying from anuria in Rajamahendravaram, reportedly after consuming adulterated milk.

In a release issued by the Health Department on Monday, the Minister instructed food safety officials to submit a detailed report on sample collection and their results.

While preliminary investigation points to adulterated milk as the cause for illness, the Minister said clarity will emerge after the results of milk samples collected from the supplier come out and the same may take up to 72 hours.

As a precautionary measure, blood samples have also been collected from the kin of victims and sent to labs in Vijayawada, Hyderabad and Visakhapatnam, he said. Samples of cattle feed, water, and fodder have also been sent to a lab in Vijayawada.

Rapid response teams have been constituted to gather details, including when the milk was consumed, in what form and other details. They are also educating the public about precautions to be taken, the Minister said.

In the Assembly, the Minister said the situation is under control and that the government will take action based on the lab reports.

The Minister instructed the health officials to ensure that the best healthcare services are provided to the victims.
