Minister for Housing, Information, and Public Relations Kolusu Parthasarathy on Tuesday (January 20, 2026) expressed strong displeasure over the negligence of medical staff in a case involving a woman, who gave birth 14 days ago, at the Eluru Government Hospital.

The woman identified as Subbalakshmi was subjected to severe pain and suffering allegedly after her stitches remained untreated for five days.

Mr. Parthasarathy contacted the hospital authorities over phone on Tuesday and directed the Resident Medical Officer (RMO) to ensure that the patient receives urgent medical attention. He also instructed the Health Department officials to conduct a thorough inquiry and take strict action against any medical personnel found negligent in providing care.

The Minister emphasised that protecting public health is a top government priority and that medical staff have a duty to provide high-quality care, especially to underprivileged patients. He warned that negligence in fulfilling these responsibilities would not be tolerated and requested the District Health and Family Welfare Society (DHFW) to submit a detailed report on the hospital staff’s performance.

In response, District Collector K. Vetriselvi expressed her anger over the negligence. Acting on her orders, the District Medical and Health Officer (DMHO) Dr. P. J. Amrutham visited the hospital to ensure that the patient received proper treatment.
