Easter, which commemorates the resurrection of Christ, was celebrated with the traditional midnight mass and lighting of the Paschal candle in Tiruchi on Saturday. Places of worship across the city were decorated for celebrations as Lent came to an end. Churches belonging to different Christian denominations in the city organised special services which started late Saturday night to mark the celebrations. Sunday morning services were held in churches, with a large turnout of people.
