In view of the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) T20 match scheduled in Bengaluru on April 5, Sunday, the Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) has announced an extension of metro services to facilitate late-night travel for cricket fans and commuters. According to a press release by BMRCL, metro operations from all terminal stations, which typically conclude around 11 p.m., will be extended until 2 a.m. in the early hours of April 6. As per the revised schedule, the last trains will depart from Whitefield (Kadugodi) and Bommasandra at 12.30 a.m., while services from Challaghatta, Silk Institute, and Madavara will run until 12.45 a.m. Notably, the final train from Nadaprabhu Kempegowda Station (Majestic), the city’s central interchange, will leave at 1.30 a.m. towards all four directions. Additionally, a late service from R.V. Road will operate until 2 a.m. To streamline travel, BMRCL has integrated a QR code for two-way metro journeys within digital IPL match tickets. This is expected to reduce ticketing queues and enable smoother passenger movement on match day, according to the release. Spectators have been advised to use Cubbon Park and M.G. Road metro stations, depending on their stadium entry points. Those accessing the stadium via Cubbon Road are encouraged to use Cubbon Park station, while those entering from the Link Road side should opt for the M.G. Road station, both located within walking distance of the venue. In a bid to ease traffic congestion in the Central Business District (CBD), BMRCL has also arranged additional parking facilities across 44 metro stations. A flat parking fee of ₹30 for two-wheelers and ₹60 for cars will be applicable for the entire duration of metro operations on match day. BMRCL have urged commuters to follow directions issued by police personnel, stadium authorities, and metro staff to ensure smooth movement and avoid overcrowding. BMRCL also stated that it reserves the right to regulate or temporarily close station entry points if required, in the interest of passenger safety.
