Officials from the Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) caught a Mandal Education Officer (MEO), Paderu, Alluri Sitharama Raju district, while allegedly demanding and accepting bribe of ₹40,000, on Thursday.

As per officials, the Mandal Education Officer, Paderu, Mori John demanded a bribe of ₹40,000 from a retired teacher to forward the teacher’s pension proposals to the office of the Accountant General – Vijayawada. The complainant was unwilling to pay the bribe and lodged a complaint with officials of ACB, Visakhapatnam.

On January 8, the accused Mori John was caught by ACB officials while demanding and accepting the bribe amount of ₹40,000 from the complainant and was arrested and produced before the Special Judge for ACB cases, Visakhapatnam.

Searches are being conducted at the residential and office premises of the accused.

The accused, Mori John was selected as a Secondary Grade Teacher in 1990 at Peda Lagudu village in Araku mandal. He is working as Head Master (Gazetted) and as Full Additional Charge (FAC) Mandal Education Officer, Paderu, Alluri Sita Ramaraju District since August 2025.
