There was tension at the Jagadamba Junction on Thursday afternoon, after a person suspected to be ’mentally unstable’ allegedly took control of a stationary city bus and drove it recklessly from LIC Building Junction near RTC Complex till Jagadamba Junction with passengers on board. The incident allegedly occurred when the driver of the bus – 300C (RTC Complex to Chodavaram) stepped down to check the tyres leaving the keys to the vehicle, while the conductor was issuing tickets. According to reports, the person drove the bus through the busy stretch from RTC Complex via Gollapalem till Jagadamba Junction in an uncontrolled manner, ramming a car and triggering fear among passengers as well as pedestrians. However, fortunately, no injuries were reported, and a major tragedy was averted. The police who were nearby rushed to the spot and took the person into their custody.
