The Chittoor district police on Saturday reunited an elderly woman, who was found in a disturbed mental state, with her family members from Kurnool district.

The woman, a resident of Acharya Nagar in Kurnool, was found roaming in Chittoor town for the last week. Women police personnel, on information from the public, arranged a temporary shelter for her at the Ammaodi Ashram in the city.

Police officials gathered her personal details through fingerprints and verified her identity, leading to the tracing of her residential address in Kurnool. Her family members were contacted and requested to come to Chittoor. After confirming the necessary documents and completing formalities, the woman was handed over to her family members.

Expressing gratitude, the family members thanked Superintendent of Police Tushar Dudi and the women police for reuniting their mother with them.

The SP appreciated the efforts of the police officers and staff for their prompt response, sensitivity, and service-oriented attitude in assisting elderly, destitute, and mentally distressed persons and ensuring their safe reunion with family members.
