Asha Jyothi, a unit of Seva Bharati in Mangaluru, will hold ‘Vishishtarigagi Vishishta Mela’, an event for Divyangs, their parents and teachers, at Canara High School, Dongerkery on January 11. Children from special schools in Dakshina Kannada and Udupi districts will take part in the event.

Talking to reporters here on January 6, Asha Jyothi President Geeta Laxmish stated that the mela aims to provide opportunities for Divyangs, their parents, and teachers to participate in singing, dancing, and various competitions and entertainment events.

As part of the mela, several stalls, including 20 food stalls, will be set up at the venue. Seven special children will be felicitated. The mela will be inaugurated at 9.15 a.m. on January 11, she said.

More than 1,200 Divyangs participated in the 2025 edition of the mela, she added.

Asha Jyothi’s Joint Secretary H. Nagaraja Bhat said a multi-storied building is being constructed at Seva Bharati’s Adamya Chetana Bala Vikasa Kendra, a daycare centre for 60 Divyangs in Naringana.

Mr. Bhat further said the multi-storied building will have a hostel facility for Divyangs. The building will also include a permanent care centre for Divyangs, he said.
