The Secular Progressive Alliance’s Madurai south candidate M. Boominathan of Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (MDMK), along with its leader Vaiko and Madurai MP Su. Venkatesan, filed his nomination with the Returning Officer at Madurai Corporation Zone – 4 office, here on Monday.

Addressing journalists, Mr. Vaiko stated their intention was to conduct a principled and dignified campaign, highlighting only the dedicated and sincere service rendered by Mr. Boominathan to the electorate.

“The MDMK candidate who will be contesting in the ‘Rising Sun’ symbol from the constituency is one of the confident and straightforward MLAs who has contributed a significant part of his life to the welfare of the people.”

He expressed confidence that the voters would be aware of the legislator’s five-year dedicated service to the constituency.

Responding to public sentiment, Mr. Boominathan championed the demand for a statue of T.M. Soundararajan in the Assembly, successfully securing the installation of a monument to the legendary singer in his hometown, Mr. Vaiko recalled.

Mr. Boominathan exuded confidence that their alliance, which believed in equality and social justice, would be the right choice for the voters of Madurai who had long respected the culture of diversity.
