The move is aimed at meeting the long-pending demand of site aspirants who have been awaiting allotment for several years, amidst the large pendency rate. The MDA has also proposed to develop a layout at Vijayashreepura, where land had been acquired earlier, but the layout was not formed. The proposed layout will be developed on about 90 acres, and ₹20 crore has been earmarked in the Budget for the project. In addition, the authority has set aside ₹31.90 crore for the construction of commercial complexes, a sports complex and other development works within its jurisdiction during the year. Presenting the 2026–27 Budget at the MDA office here on Monday, MDA commissioner K.R. Rakshith announced a surplus Budget of ₹220.72 crore, with projected revenue of ₹799.90 crore and expenditure of ₹579.18 crore. The Budget was presented with Deputy Commissioner and MDA chairman G. Lakshmikanth Reddy presiding. Senior MDA officials were also present. Later, Mr. Reddy said that farmers have agreed to hand over about 500 acres of land for the proposed layouts. “We are hoping that more farmers will come forward to provide their land for the formation of layouts. Once we secure around 1,000 acres, we will initiate the process of developing the layouts under the 50:50 scheme, under which farmers will receive an equal share of the developed land,” he said. Mr. Rakshith, while presenting the Budget, said that ₹71.22 crore has been earmarked for infrastructure development works such as drinking water supply, underground drainage, junction development and installation of streetlights. The MDA has proposed to take up the rejuvenation of water bodies within its limits, and ₹64.21 crore has been allocated. Lakes identified for rejuvenation include Yelwal Lake, Sahukarhundi Lake, Bommenahalli Lake, Koorgalli Lake, Bhugathagalli Lake and Chikkahalli Lake, he said. The Commissioner said the authority has also proposed to prepare a Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the development of the Peripheral Ring Road, for which ₹7.43 crore has been earmarked. Further, ₹15 crore has been allocated for the renovation of the MDA office building on JLB Road.
