District Collector S. Kandasamy on Friday inaugurated the mega cleanliness drive, “SIPCOT Bhogi – 2026,” at the SIPCOT Project Office premises in Perundurai.

Addressing the gathering, the Collector said SIPCOT was committed to maintaining a clean, aesthetic and hygienic environment across all its industrial parks to enhance their overall appeal and operational efficiency for investors and stakeholders. As part of these efforts, it had launched an extensive cleanliness campaign across its industrial parks under the banner “SIPCOT Bhogi,” which would conclude on January 14, coinciding with the celebration of Samathuva Pongal, he said.

As part of the drive, SIPCOT sanitation workers will undertake intensive cleaning of common areas, including roads, stormwater drains, open spaces and other public utilities. Samathuva Pongal will be celebrated on January 14 at the respective project offices of the industrial parks as the culmination of the campaign, aimed at fostering a sense of community among all stakeholders.

The SIPCOT industrial park was established in 2000 over an extent of 2,663 acres in Ingur and Perundurai villages of Perundurai taluk. Catering mainly to textile and general industries, the park has so far allotted 2,096.09 acres to 369 units, of which 254 units are currently operational.

In view of the Bhogi festival, cleanliness works will be carried out across the entire Perundurai industrial estate, covering utility areas such as roads, drainage channels and pumping stations. In addition, sanitation activities will be undertaken within the industrial park over an area of about 250 acres.

Industrial units functioning within the SIPCOT premises have been urged to coordinate with teams and carry out parallel cleanliness activities within their respective factory premises to ensure the success of the campaign through collective participation.

The event was attended by Sipcot Executive Engineer (Chennai) Thiruvarul, Perundurai Municipal Chairman Rajendran, Sipcot Project Officer (Perundurai) Suja Priyadarsini, and other officials.
