A married woman who had gone to Chikkamagaluru to attend a wedding on February 12 went missing, and her belongings were found near a tank at Kalkere in Belur taluk, leaving her family members and relatives worried.

Priyanka, 29, a resident of Yaliyur in Kunigal taluk of Tumakuru, travelled to Chikkamagaluru to attend a wedding. After attending the event, she returned to her native place near Belur with her mother. That same evening, she left her mother’s house to return to Yaliyur.

According to her relatives, she got off in Belur and boarded another bus to reach Kunigal. However, she did not arrive at her destination that day. Repeated attempts to reach her by phone failed, as the phone was reportedly switched off.

The next day, her husband, Rudresh, received a call from a devotee on a padayatra to Dharmastala, informing him that he had found Priyanka’s Aadhar card on the road near Kalkere in Belur taluk. “The devotee called me because her card carried my contact number. Then, I came to Belur and searched for her,” he said. They found her dress, vanity bag, and slippers near Kalkere in Belur taluk.

Rudresh filed a complaint with the Belur Police on Friday, stating that his wife had gone missing. He told the media that he had difficulty filing the complaint, as the police in Belur and Arehalli were reluctant to register the case, citing that the location where she went missing did not belong to their jurisdiction.

Hassan SP Shubhanwita told the media that the police were investigating the case with all technical support. The officer stated that she would look into the allegation of negligence against the police officer in booking the case.
