Theodosius Mar Thoma, Metropolitan of the Malankara Mar Thoma Syrian Church, has called on the global community to unite in prayer for peace in West Asia and urged world leaders engaged in conflict to lay down their arms and embrace the path of reconciliation and dialogue.

“Recent joint missile strikes by Israel and the U.S. in Iran have reportedly resulted in significant loss of life. Disturbingly, reports indicate that more than 85 schoolgirls were killed in a missile attack on a school in Iran. Hostilities and retaliatory strikes continue among several nations in West Asia, leading to further casualties. Missile attacks have claimed numerous lives, while air and maritime transportation have been severely disrupted. Across the Gulf region, conditions resemble those of an active war zone’’, he said, while also noting the deep anxiety of hundreds of expatriate Malayalis residing in West Asian countries.

According to him, the international community bears a collective responsibility to uphold peace, safeguard human life and prevent further escalation. Holding that leaders of nations must turn away from this destructive course, he also said that the present circumstances must not be allowed to spiral further into destruction.
