Deputy Chief Minister Udhayanidhi Stalin said he was personally asked by many women to thank Chief Minister M.K. Stalin for transferring ₹5,000 to their bank accounts.

“People’s message clearly states that they are happy with the government. Regardless of what anyone else says, our Chief Minister and party leader is delivering exactly what he promised,” he told presspersons.

When asked about deaths at Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam’s leader Vijay’s gatherings, he shot back: “Who should you be asking this? Should you be asking me? Honestly, who is responsible for this, and who should be giving an answer?”

On claims that government schemes were only introduced after Mr. Vijay entered politics, he said, “At this rate, one might even say that DMK founder Anna saw him (Vijay) and only then started the DMK party.”

He was here to address the youth wing cadres and functionaries at a private hall near Ring Road. Minister and DMK district secretary P. Moorthy participated.

Later, Mr. Udayanidhi left for Tiruchi by road. Traffic flow was blocked at several intersections by the traffic police. Many ambulances were stuck due to the unannounced stoppage by the police, road users said in the city.
