The body of an unidentified man was recovered from the Porur Lake on Sunday (February 1, 2026) morning. A senior official from the city police said that on Saturday (January 31) night, when a few persons in the locality were engaged in fishing in the Porur Lake, they saw a body floating in the waterbody. They immediately alerted the Porur police, who, along with Fire and Rescue Services personnel, rushed to the spot. However, the personnel were unable to retrieve the body because night had fallen and there was heavy growth of water hyacinth. The body was recovered on Sunday morning and has been sent to the Government Kilpauk Medical College Hospital for post-mortem. Further probe is under way.
