The Delhi police have filed an FIR after BJP Lok Sabha MP Manoj Tiwari filed a complaint against a “fake” Facebook account operating under his name.

The North East Delhi MP, who is also a popular Bhojpuri singer and actor, said in a post on X on Saturday (January 31, 2026) that he had already complained against the “fake” ID, yet it was surprisingly active.

According to the FIR accessed by The Hindu, Mr. Tiwari alleged that a fake Facebook account was operating using his name and photographs. The complaint was filed after a strong worded criticism of the now-stayed UGC regulations was posted from the said Facebook ID using his photo.

“Some unknown person under a conspiracy is operating a fake Facebook ID in my name. My real Facebook ID has a blue tick. I lodged a police complaint on January 22, yet the fake ID is active and the person operating it was not caught,” Mr. Tiwari said in his post, demanding the police to arrest the person.

In his complaint, he clarified that he has nothing to do with the account. “The account is being run by an unknown person or persons who has been misusing my photographs and name,” said the FIR registered at Mandir Marg police station under Section 66C (identity theft) of the IT Act and 356 (3) (defamation) BNS.
