The Mannargudi Municipality has announced that the Public Hearing Meeting to ascertain the views/suggestions from public and farmers in Mannargudi region with respect to the proposal of letting treated sewage water into Pamani river, will be held on March 13. Inquiries reveal that the civic body initially planned the meeting on March 10 but it was strongly opposed by a section of farmers in Mannargudi region. Farmers such as P. R. Pandian of Mannargudi, a progressive farmer, alleged that the haste with which the meeting was scheduled only showed that the civic body wanted to record its views as that of the farmers and public.
