Setting up an innovation fund to prevent the foul smell emanating from the solid waste management site at Pachchanady, preparing a Vision 2032 document for urban planning, forming a special task force for clearing black spots, preparing a project report for building 22-k.m. long coastal road, and distributing two cotton hand bags to each house are some of the initiatives proposed by the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC) in its budget for 2026-27.

The Administrator of the MCC and Deputy Commissioner of Dakshina Kannada H. V. Darshan presented the Budget on March 26 in the absence of an elected council in the civic body. The five-year term of the elected council ended on February 27, 2025.
