A bilingual poetry collection titled ‘Maneru Teeram’, authored by noted writer Varala Anand, was released on the scenic banks of the Maneru river near the Lower Manair Dam (LMD) in Karimnagar on Tuesday. The collection, originally written in Telugu and self-translated into English by the author, reflects a rare confluence of linguistic and cultural sensibilities, a press release said. The event held at the riverside against the picturesque backdrop of the LMD brought together a galaxy of literary personalities, including several writers, here on Tuesday evening. Addressing the gathering, the speakers appreciated Mr. Varala Anand, a recipient of the Central Sahitya Akademi Translation Award, for using the bilingual format to reach a wider readership beyond linguistic boundaries. The event was organised under the aegis of Samaikhya Sahiti, a literary organisation.
