Speaking during a training programme for technical staff assigned to the first phase of the 2027 Census operations, at his office in Mandya on Monday, Dr. Kumar stated that the 2011 Census was conducted using the traditional manual method. However, the 2027 Census will be carried out completely through a mobile application. This will enhance the accuracy and transparency of data and help the government deliver welfare schemes more effectively to the public, he added. He noted that technical staff have been instructed to focus on the use of the mobile app, digital data entry, and the creation of House Listing and Building (HLB) maps, as the 2027 Census will be entirely digital. Dr. Kumar also said that the census process will involve live monitoring through the Census Management and Monitoring System (CMMS) portal, and technical staff must familiarise themselves with procedures related to house listing and data management. Assistant Director of the Directorate of Census Operations, Dhanya, District Statistical Officer Keshavamurthy, and Assistant Director at the Deputy Commissioner’s office Chetan S., were present.
