The Fast Track Mahila Court here on Thursday (February 26, 2025) sentenced a 38-year-old man to seven years of imprisonment for robbing a woman in 2016. According to the prosecution, the incident occurred on the night of November 5, 2016, near Manakkadupudur within the limits of Sivagiri Police Station. Sampooranam, wife of Jeganathan of Karukkampalayam village, was travelling on a two-wheeler with her husband when an unidentified person intercepted them. The assailant allegedly threatened the couple with a knife and robbed Sampooranam of her five-sovereign gold chain before fleeing the scene. Based on her complaint, the police registered a case and launched an investigation.
