Panic prevailed at Yanamalavari Palli village in Madanapalle mandal in Annamayya district on Friday night after a snake slithered into a house. A neighbour, Moula (38), while trying to catch the five-foot-long snake alive, was bitten on the hand. He killed the reptile and rushed to the government hospital in Madanapalle. Not sure whether it was a venomous snake, he carried the carcass of the reptile to the hospital. Mr. Moula was administered with first-aid and anti-venom as a precautionary measure. After a thorough examination, the reptile was identified as a non-venomous water snake, bringing a relief to Mr. Moula. “I wanted to catch the snake alive and release it into the bushes. However, I killed it after it bit me,” Mr. Moula said.
