A 30-year-old man allegedly bludgeoned his brother-in-law to death and later walked into Bannerghatta Police Station carrying the victim’s body to surrender.

According to police, the accused, identified as Srinivas, who runs a dog kennel and is a resident of Bairappanahalli, arrived at the station on Thursday with the body in his car, confessing to the murder.

The deceased has been identified as Ranjith, 24, the younger brother of Srinivas’ wife. Police said tensions had been brewing between the two after Ranjith was allegedly in a relationship with Srinivas’ younger sister, who is already married.

Investigations revealed that Srinivas had called Ranjith to Bilwaradahalli near Bannerghatta under the pretext of resolving the issue. However, during the meeting, he allegedly attacked Ranjith with a metal rod, striking him on the head and killing him on the spot.

After committing the crime, Srinivas reportedly drove to the police station with the body and surrendered.

Police have arrested the accused and have registered a case under Section 103 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita.

The body has been shifted for post-mortem examination, and the accused has been taken into custody for further investigation.
