One person was taken into custody for allegedly stabbing a 22-year-old youth in Mailardevpally, in the early hours of Friday. The accused was identified as Vivek Mandal, 23. According to the police, the victim, Raghupati, 22, was attacked with a knife following earlier disputes between the accused and the victim’s family. Police said the incident came to light around 3.30 a.m. when the victim’s father, P. Manyam, was informed by a friend that his son was attacked and shifted to a hospital. He rushed to a private hospital in Mailardevpally, where he found his son with a bleeding injury to the neck. Investigations revealed that the accused allegedly held a grudge over previous quarrels and attacked the victim with a knife before fleeing the spot. The injured youth is currently undergoing treatment. The accused was later apprehended and a knife used in the offence was seized. He has been remanded to judicial custody. A case has been registered at Mailardevpally police station and further investigation is under way.
