The police arrested a 34-year-old man for sexually harassing two women, including a traffic police constable on duty, near Guindy railway station on Sunday. Police said, two men under the influence of alcohol, went near a 19-year-old engineering student from Saidapet and her friend as they walked towards a juice shop at 8.30 pm near the railway station. One of the men sexually harassed the woman, triggering her to raise an alarm. A police constable on traffic duty immediately intervened when she heard the shouting. The accused then behaved inappropriately with the constable and attempted to flee the scene. One of the victims intervened and stopped the perpetrator by chasing him in the middle of the road, slapping him, and questioning his behaviour. The constable then nabbed him before handing him over to the Guindy police station. A video of the incident went viral over social media. Police identified the accused as Thalapathy, a resident of Thanjavur district. The investigation revealed that he had earlier committed a similar crime against another woman police officer who apprehended him.
