A 47-year-old man said to be from Mannar district in Sri Lanka and residing in Tamil Nadu was arrested by the Airport Police in Tiruchi on Sunday (March 8, 2026) on charges of obtaining an Indian passport fraudulently by furnishing bogus documents and hiding his nationality. The police identified the accused as R. Rajesh Kanna of Adampan in Mannar district in Sri Lanka. He had been residing in Madurai. They said he came to the Tiruchi International Airport on Saturday March 7) night to travel to Sri Lanka by an IndiGo flight.
