Man arrested within 12 hours of crime; 27 sovereigns of gold recovered

The Aminjikarai Police have arrested a 28-year-old suspect within 12 hours of committing the crime. The accused, Subramani, allegedly barged into a woman’s house in the early hours of Saturday, threatening her with a knife and stealing about 27 sovereigns of gold jewellery and cash.

The police said the victim Rukmani, 54, a homemaker, lives with her family on the first floor of their own house. Her husband works as a driver with the Tamil Nadu State Transport Corporation (TNSTC) at the Madhavaram depot and operates buses on the Andhra Pradesh–Nellore route.
