A 64-year-old man has been arrested for appearing in court with fake documents to secure bail for an accused.

A statement here by the Mysuru City Police said the individual appeared as a surety for granting bail to an accused and submitted an Aadhaar card in the court of the 6th Additional Civil Judge and JMFC, Mysuru.

During verification, the Judge noticed discrepancies and conducted a preliminary inquiry. During the inquiry, the person appearing as surety admitted before the court that the Aadhaar card submitted was not genuine and his photograph had been affixed onto another person’s Aadhaar card. 

He revealed that his real name is S.K. Narasimharaju and that he is a resident of Shettihalli in Tumkur. He further stated that a person named Imtiyaz had instructed him to appear before the court as a surety.

A case in this regard has been registered at the Lakshmipuram Police Station. The police arrested Narasimharaju and produced him before the court of the 8th Additional Civil Judge, which remanded him to judicial custody. 

The police said efforts were underway to trace the other accused, Imtiyaz, and warned that legal action would be initiated against anyone who produces fake documents while standing as a surety for granting bail.
