Man arrested for murdering a woman near Kazhugumalai

The police have arrested a youth for allegedly murdering his teenaged girl friend near Kazhugumalai on Monday for ending her relationship with him.

The police said V. Uma, 19, of Thalavaipuram near Rajapalayam in Virudhunagar district, who was studying in a coaching centre at Thiruvenkatam, was in a relationship with Rajesh, 25, of Kulakkattaakurichi in Tenkasi district, who was undergoing training in the coaching centre.

As Uma was active on social media, Rajesh censured her. Upset over this, Uma ended her relationship with Rajesh.

In a bid to pacify Uma, Rajesh took her to nearby Kasthurirengapuram on Monday on his motorcycle. When Rajesh asked her to marry him, Uma refused. Upset by this, Rajesh allegedly strangulated her.

As Uma swooned, Rajesh called the ambulance over the phone and alerted the Vembakottai police, who rushed to the spot and found Uma dead. The police arrested Rajesh and sent Uma’s body for post-mortem.
