The Museum police have arrested a 36-year-old man in connection with a ₹75-lakh bank fraud case involving forged documents. A small quantity of MDMA was also seized from his possession during the arrest. The accused, identified as Anuraj, a native of Thirumala and currently residing near Vijayamohini mills, was taken into custody late Sunday from near Althara. According to police, the accused had allegedly availed ₹75 lakh from the Althara branch of State Bank of India by submitting forged documents. While he was apprehended after being placed on surveillance, the police officers discovered one gram of MDMA concealed in a secret compartment beneath the driver’s seat in his car. A separate case has been registered against him under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act for possession and attempted transportation of the contraband.
