Malabar Cancer Centre’s (MCC) initiative, “AI Oncology Agent for Evidence-based Summaries, Guideline Support, and Clinical Trial Matching,” which is designed to rapidly analyse patient treatment data and support clinicians in making precise, evidence-based decisions, has earned national recognition at the just-concluded India AI Summit 2026.

The project was selected for the prestigious ’Catch Grant 2026’, jointly instituted by the India AI National Cancer Grid (NCG) and the Koita Centre for Digital Oncology (KCDO), a statement issued by the office of the Health Minister, said.

The project, presented by Wellytics Health and Wellness Solutions, in collaboration with MCC’s incubation centre MIINT (Malabar Cancer Centre Incubation Innovation Nest), was ranked among the top 10 projects nation-wide, the statement said.

In addition, “AI Tools for Advancing Value-Based Care in Oncology,” developed by Doctor Assist AI in collaboration with Malabar Cancer Centre, was featured among the top 35 projects in the country. This initiative focuses on ensuring optimal treatment outcomes at reduced cost.

MIINT, the dedicated incubation platform established at MCC to encourage MedTech startups, plays a crucial role in accelerating healthcare innovation.

MIINT, founded in 2025, serves as a critical bridge connecting innovative ideas with practical clinical applications. It provides clinical mentorship, real-world validation, and strategic guidance to address emerging healthcare challenges. At present, seven start-ups in various healthcare domains are functioning successfully under MIINT

The grant was formally received by the MCC director Satheesan B. and Wellytics director Dheeraj B., from ICMR director general, Rajeev Bahl and IT Secretary, S. Krishnan.

MCC faculty, serving as project mentors — Deepak Roshan, Praveen Kumar Shenoy V.P., and Geetha M. — were also present at the award ceremony.
