Union Minister of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways Sarbananda Sonowal on Friday (April 10, 2026) said that nearly 90% of backlog cargo at India’s major ports has been cleared, following disruptions caused by geopolitical tensions in the Strait of Hormuz.

He credited timely intervention and continuous monitoring by the Ministry for restoring normalcy in port operations.
