Terming the incident wherein BJP worker Sujata Handi was “disrobed” during her arrest by the police as a case of Congress-sponsored goondaism, State president of the BJP Mahila Morcha C. Manjula has demanded a judicial inquiry.

Speaking to presspersons after visiting the residence of Sujata Handi and interacting with her family members, Ms. Manjula said that woman Sub-Inspector of Police K.S. Hatti carried out the work of a goon wearing police uniform.

Police Commissioner N. Shashikumar should take action against her. She should be dismissed from service, Ms. Manjula demanded.

As the State Commission for Women is not acting impartially, the National Commission for Women has been informed about the incident with a request to taking action on it, she said.

Condemning Chief Minister Siddaramaiah’s statement that the woman “disrobed” herself during arrest, she said that if the Chief Minister has any respect towards women, he should immediately order a thorough inquiry.

She also said that if the accused woman had attacked and injured woman constables, then, the police should take action as per law.

Inquiry

Following the BJP protest on Wednesday, the Police Commissioner has initiated an inquiry into the issue, led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police.
