The highest turnout was recorded in Ichalkaranji at 69.76%, while Mira Bhayandar reported the lowest at 48.64%. Among major municipal corporations, Mumbai recorded a turnout of 52.94%, Thane 55.59%, Nashik 56.67%, Pune 52.42% and Nagpur 51.38%. Polling for the 29 municipal corporations concluded on Thursday, with counting of votes underway on Friday. According to the SEC, turnout in other civic bodies included Kalyan Dombivli (50.32%), Navi Mumbai (57.15%), Akola (55.61%), Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (59.82%), Nanded Waghala (61.37%), Parbhani (65.99%), Amravati (54.10%), Chandrapur (56.89%), Jalna (61.16%), Latur (60.08%), Malegaon (64.08%), Dhule (56.73%), Ulhasnagar (52.10%), Bhiwandi Nizampur (53.43%), Vasai Virar (57.12%), Panvel (55.67%), Kolhapur (66.53%), Sangli Miraj Kupwad (61.03%), Jalgaon (53.60%), Ahilyanagar (64.67%), Pimpri Chinchwad (57.71%) and Solapur (53.02%). Meanwhile, according to figures released by the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC), the Bharatiya Janata Party is leading in 72 seats, followed by Shiv Sena (UBT) with 60 seats, the Shiv Sena led by Eknath Shinde with 25 seats, Congress with 19 seats, AIMIM with seven seats, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena with five seats, Nationalist Congress Party with two seats, Nationalist Congress Party (SP) with one, Samajwadi Party with two seats, and others in the remaining wards. AIMIM won five seats in Govandi and one in Chittanagar. Most of the unopposed winners were from the BJP and the Shiv Sena led by Eknath Shinde. The results were declared after the SEC received and examined reports from the municipal commissioners of the concerned civic bodies. Certificates to the unopposed winners are to be issued on Friday (January 16, 2026).
