Madurai Bench quashes FIR registered against law graduate who called for demolition of Periyar statue

The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court has quashed the FIR registered against a law graduate following his remarks on the statue of Periyar E.V. Ramasamy in front of the Srirangam temple in Tiruchi district.

The court was hearing the petition filed by M. Barani Dharan, who, when he was a law student, had called for the demolition of the statue in a post on Facebook.
