Sai Kumar is set to assume office as the Tamil Nadu government’s Chief Secretary, following a directive from the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Wednesday (April 8, 2026). Meanwhile, official sources said that the incumbent, N. Muruganandam, was relieved of his duties on Wednesday. The Commission also directed the Chief Secretary to appoint senior IPS officer Sandeep Mittal as Director General of Police (Armed Police and Vigilance and Anti-Corruption). It added that the directions must be implemented with immediate effect and that a compliance report should be submitted by 6 p.m. on Wednesday.
