Hyderabad Metro Rail Chief Electrical Inspector D.V.S. Raju on Saturday inaugurated L&T Metro Rail (Hyderabad) second solar power plant of 1.2 MWp on ‘RESCO’ model at their Uppal depot. The total installed solar power capacity has increased to 12.41 Mwp from the earlier 11.19 MWp with the addition of this project.

Earlier, Mr. Raju inspected the solar power plant along with the outdoor auxiliary substation of 0.8/33kV along with L&T Metro Chief Operating Officer Sudhir Chiplunkar and Keolis MRTS MD S.C. Mishra and other senior officials.

The existing solar installations were contributing nearly 14% of the overall energy consumption of HMR and with the commissioning of the additional 1.2 MWp plant, the share of green energy has now risen to approximately 16% of the total power consumption, further strengthening the organisation’s commitment towards clean and environmentally responsible operations.

The CEI, appointed by the Central government, also inspected advanced test benches developed by L&TMRH for analysing defects in various components of metro rolling and conveyed his appreciation on the efforts made to contain malfunctioning of relays, components of rolling stock equipment which were causing disruption to train services.

He further urged the teams to continue striving towards achieving zero-level failures, thereby ensuring uninterrupted and most reliable metro operations, said a press release.
