Kerala government has called a meeting of oil company representatives to discuss the issues related to the shortage of LPG gas cylinders. In the meeting, the oil companies stated that there was no shortage in the supply of cylinders for domestic use, while institutions like hospitals, which use cylinders for industrial purposes, will be given priority and not be affected by the restrictions.

Food and Civil Supplies Minister G.R. Anil said that the shortage of cylinders for industrial purposes has serious consequences for Kerala, a consumer State, and therefore it has been decided to write a letter to the Union government requesting relaxation in the restrictions brought in. Currently, the next booking is possible only after 25 days of booking.

The Minister also directed to take strict measures to prevent hoarding and diversion of gas cylinders. He also informed that inspection squads will be formed under the aegis of the district collector and district supply officers, and the availability of gas cylinders will be ensured.
