Office-bearers of the Nagapattinam and Vedaranyam Lorry Owners’ Association submitted a petition to the District Collector on Friday alleging irregularities in the transportation of paddy procured through direct purchase centres of the Tamil Nadu Civil Supplies Corporation (TNCSC). In the petition, association president S. Pandian and secretary N. Nagendran said the association had been functioning for over 50 years and that more than 300 lorry owner families and over 500 driver families depended solely on TNCSC loads in Nagapattinam district for their livelihood.
