Lord Shiva temples in Vizianagaram and Srikakulam districts witnessed unprecedented rush on the day of Maha Shivaratri, celebrated on Sunday (February 15, 2026).

The temples such as Ramateertham, Punyagiri, Dwadasa Jyotirlinga Sahitha Pasupathinaadeswara Swamy temple in Vizianagaram, Mudu Kovellu in Vizianagaram among others wore a festive look with the offering of special prayers to the presiding deities. The pilgrims thronged Pasupathinadeswara temple in the early hours as replicas of the Dwadasa Jyotrilingas are located in the temple premises.

The temple trustees Gudisa Shiva Kumar, Gudisa Srinivasa Rao and others made elaborate arrangements for a hassle-free darshan. Holy bath and Rudrabhisekham was performed in Srimukhalingam, Endala Mallikarjuna Swamy temple, Umarudra Koteswara Alayam, Shiva Balaji temple on Sunday (February 15, 2026). Srimukhalingam temple chief priest Naidugari Rajasekhar and trustees made arrangements for special prayers to the presiding deity in Srimukhalingam which is called as Dakshina Kasi. The police department made security arrangements at the temple premises and the nearby Vamsadhara river, where the devotees had holy bath before offering prayers in the temple.
