Lord Mahaveer Janma Kalyanaka festival to be held in Belagavi

Members of the the Jain community will organise the Janma Kalyanaka festival of Lord Mahaveer in Belagavi from March 25.

Various cultural programmes and competitions will be held until March 27. Gulab Chand Kataria, Governor of Punjab, will inaugurate the Ahimsa Rally in CPED grounds on March 29.

Sanjay Patil, chairman of the Utsav Samiti to reporters in Belagavi on Tuesday (March 24), told reporters, “We have been organising the birth anniversary of Lord Mahaveer since 1999 in Belagavi.”

A blood donation camp will be held at Gomatesh Vidyapeeth on March 28. A play on the life of Lord Mahaveer will be performed by children on the same day.

Utsav Samiti will felicitate KLE society honorary chairman Prabhakar Kore for being selected for the Padma Sri award, at Mahaveer Bhavan in Belagavi on March 29. Lalit Sanghvi Kataria, president of the national unit of the All India Jain Kataria Foundation, will inaugurate a procession at Tilak Chowk on March 30. Committee secretary Rajendra Kataria Jain, Surekha Gauragonda, Aruna Shah, Raju Khoda, Pushpak Hanumannanavar, Padmaraj Vaijannavar and Sachin Patil were present.
