The Lokayukta Police, under the leadership of Deputy Superintendent of Police J.H. Inamdar, caught two engineers of Krishna Bhagya Jala Nigam Limited (KBJNL) red-handed while accepting bribe in office from a contractor at Bheemarayanagudi in Shahapur taluk of Yadgir district on Thursday.

According to a release, the Lokayukta Police carried out a raid following a complaint submitted by Kasimsab, a native of Gaddesugur village in Wadagera taluk of the district, and caught the engineers red-handed while they accepted ₹35,000 bribe through UPI.

The release gave the names of the accused as Madhusudhan, who is an Assistant Executive Engineer, and Manjunath, a Junior Engineer, both from Krishna Bhagya Jala Nigam Limited.

Mr. Inamdar has in the release stated that the two engineers demanded ₹35,000 from the complainant to clear pending bills for civic work he completed.

The Lokayukta Police took the two accused into custody and launched further investigation.

Inspector Siddaray Baloorgi and other staff were on the raiding team.

A case has been registered under Section 7(a) the Prevention of Corruption Act.
