Taking serious note of improper solid waste management across Greater Bengaluru, Karnataka Lokayukta Justice B.S. Patil has initiated suo motu proceedings and expressed strong dissatisfaction over the functioning of civic bodies. The Lokayukta has been periodically monitoring the issue by summoning officials from all five municipal corporations under the Greater Bengaluru Authority and reviewing their performance. On March 30, Justice Patil conducted a surprise inspection along with the Lokayukta police officials at several locations, including Gottigere near Decathlon, the stretch between NIMHANS and Minerva Circle, Anjanapura, JP Nagar 9th Phase, and SER Residency 4th Cross. During the inspection, he observed heaps of garbage piled up along roadsides in these areas, reflecting poorly on the functioning of the municipal corporations and the Bengaluru Solid Waste Management Limited (BSWML). He expressed concern that such negligence could pose serious health risks to the public. Following the inspection, the Lokayukta directed that an urgent summons be issued to the Chief Executive Officer of BSWML, instructing them to appear before the authority on April 2, at 3.30 p.m. with a detailed report on the lapses. Additionally, the Deputy General Manager and Assistant General Managers of BSWML have also been summoned to appear for the hearing. The matter has been scheduled for further inquiry on April 2 at 3.30 p.m. Published – March 31, 2026 09:15 pm IST Share this: Click to share on WhatsApp (Opens in new window) WhatsApp Click to share on Facebook (Opens in new window) Facebook Click to share on Threads (Opens in new window) Threads Click to share on X (Opens in new window) X Click to share on Telegram (Opens in new window) Telegram Click to share on LinkedIn (Opens in new window) LinkedIn Click to share on Pinterest (Opens in new window) Pinterest Click to email a link to a friend (Opens in new window) Email More Click to print (Opens in new window) Print Click to share on Reddit (Opens in new window) Reddit Click to share on Tumblr (Opens in new window) Tumblr Click to share on Pocket (Opens in new window) Pocket Click to share on Mastodon (Opens in new window) Mastodon Click to share on Nextdoor (Opens in new window) Nextdoor Click to share on Bluesky (Opens in new window) Bluesky Like this:Like Loading...
