As many as 3,000 of more than 50,000 pending civil and criminal cases in Dakshina Kannada have been earmarked for settlement during the National Lok Adalat to be held across the courts in the district on March 14, Principal District and Sessions Judge and Chairman of Dakshina Kannada District Legal Services Authority (DLSA) Basavaraj said in Mangaluru on Monday. Talking to reporters, Mr. Basavaraj said of the 3,000 cases, 220 were settled during the Lok Adalat sitting in the courts during the last few days. As many as 126 cases were settled in the second phase of special mediation campaign from January 2.
