Pawan Kalyan said a legal system, wherein politicians could be punished for breaking promises, was not possible. The best available remedy was to not cast votes for such derelict leaders when elections come again, he advised, while pointing out that not all politicians were irresponsible. “All politicians make promises with good intentions, but fulfilling them may not be possible in some practical situations,” he observed. Interacting with youth in a programme titled, ‘Janasenani with Gen Z’ in Mangalagiri on Wednesday, Mr. Pawan Kalyan said the leaders would do well to make promises with adequate understanding of the practicalities, and when they fail, people should raise their voice. He asserted that it was only when pressure was mounted by a critical mass of people the leaders would deliver, or at least take issues seriously. Asked why corruption appears to be rarely dealt with as sternly as it ought to be, Mr. Pawan Kalyan said it (corruption) was a very broad term and cash-for-votes was a matter of concern. He told the youngsters to be aware of their responsibilities and behave accordingly while fighting for their rights, to enable the nation to make the desired progress. Every citizen should know the great cost at which freedom was achieved, he stated, calling for collective efforts to make India a super power in the future, he added.
